There are many ways to cleanse your crystals.
You will find that the internet is filled with articles and information on how to keep your crystals clean and how to care for them.

When it comes to the care of your crystals, it's much more than just clean them once in a while.

For crystals not only need to be cleansed but they need to be recharged and re-energized. Additionally not all crystals can be cleansed the same way.

This is why you need to know your crystals and how to care for them accordingly.

6 Ways To Cleanse & Care For Your Crystals Method 1 - Salt & Water

One of the most common methods to clean your crystals is to classify them according to their type, and soak them in salty water for up to three days.

Once your crystals have been soaked in salt water for up to 3 days, rinse them thoroughly and place them in the sun to dry out.

2 other variations of this method can also be used.
Using fresh seawater.
Purified spring water with Himalayan rough rock salt.

These 2 variations are more beneficial than using regular tap water with regular table salt due to the purity of the natural products your using.

Tip: Try and used a solid crystal or glass bowl as this has a larger vibrational energy. Some crystals are not suitable to be cleansed this way so always check first.

Method 2 - Citrus Juice

Citrus juice is equally as good for cleansing and clearing crystals. Using Lemon is best as this helps with its purifying capabilities and can help remove grease and fat from the crystals' surface leaving the shiny.

You must be careful when using polished & soft based crystals when using citrus juice & always dilute with spring water.

Method 3 - Burning Incense Smoke

This is a less invasive method of cleaning your crystals.
Exposing your crystals to burning incense smoke is a good way to cleanse and clear your crystal and the environmental residual energies that the crystals and room may have picked up before purchase.

Incense of the herbal kind works best such as Ceder, Salvia, Juniper or White Sage.

White Sage is one of the most common herbs for cleansing & clearing energies.

Burning a small amount of the chosen incense on a heat proof dish or shell allowing the smoldering incense to pass around the crystal and through the room cleansing and clearing the environment as well.

You can buy dried loose White Sage from many spiritual, new age or health and wellbeing shops.

Method 4 - Aura Essence Sprays

Aura essence sprays are a really good way for cleansing & clearing your crystals as well yourself and the environment you are in.

Spray the aura essence spray over the crystal space or a persons aura 1-3 times. The spay will help to cleanse and clear the crystals or the persons aura of negative and residual energies.

Method 5 - Using Mother Earth Itself

Cleansing crystals using the energies of the earth itself.
Find a place to bury the crystal in the earth that wont be disturbed by animals. Ask the earth to cleanse and clear the crystal of negative and residual energies and to reenergize the crystal for healing.

Leave your crystal for up to 24 hours. When your ready take your crystal brush off any dirt and rinse off any thick dirt that may be harder to clean and allow to dry in the sun. once dry your crystal should be cleansed cleared and reenergized and ready to use.

This method should not be used when there is iron present in the composition of the crystal as a dominant element, e.g., hematite and tiger iron. Energies can be taken out of the crystal in this way as this would be classed as a crystal rebirth giving the crystal back to the earth from which It came from originally.

Method 6 - Self Cleansing Crystals

Certain crystals have self cleansing properties which is perfect as they don't really need much doing with them apart from cleansing every so often with mostly any of the previous methods.

The Selenite slab or slice is perfect as Selenite self cleanses, absorbs negative and residual energy and is also able to cleanse and clear other crystals. Place your selected crystals on the Selenite slab or slice for a minimum of 10 minuets up to 12 hours and your crystals will be cleansed cleared and recharged ready to use.

Activating Your Crystal

Once you have cleansed and cleared your crystals, it's very important to activate your crystals.

You may or may not be familiar with how to activate a
crystal. Sometimes, a crystal can be a "sleeper", and needs to know it is going to be used for healing or meditative purposes.

Making a spiritual connection with the crystal helps to activate it, to awaken its consciousness. You can activate your crystal through an initiation ritual, by holding it, rolling it back and forth in your hands, sleeping with it, gazing at it, washing it and generally handling it.

To awaken its consciousness through ritual, tell the crystal your intent for its use (e.g. for healing). This event marks the initiation of the crystal and makes an energy connection with the person using the crystal.

Remember to fully recharge your crystal after you've been handling it for activation purposes.

Programming Your Crystal

Programming your crystal should be relatively easy. Each crystal has its own mission or purpose, its own programming for healing.

Sometimes, it is to provide a grounding force on the planet, maybe working energetically with other crystals in the earth to provide a network of stabile energy across the planet as part of the physical matrix of the planet.

Sometimes, the crystal will carry a specific energy signature by resonating tones, colours and other vibrations that are provided through compassionate forces for humans and other life forms on Earth. Crystals can resonates for a particular chakra, or has a mission to "clear a past life" for instance. We don't want to harm that type of programming either.

You can program crystals with additional information by holding the crystal in your hands. Breathing through your nose and out your mouth, drawing in the energy from the crystal and setting the instructions for what you wish your crystal to help with.

Once the programming is set the crystal will then resonate with those instructions, amplifying, broadcasting, and projecting the new set of energy patterns to ourselves or others as directed.
